S & J Serenity Center was born from a shared dream between husband-and-wife team James and Sanestra Thornton—a dream rooted in love, faith, fellowship, education, and community. After more than 20 years of mobile event-planning experience, we envisioned a welcoming place where people could come together, celebrate life’s special moments, build meaningful connections, and feel at home. With prayer, careful planning, and a heart for serving others, that vision became S & J Serenity Center, located in the Ladysmith, Virginia area. Our mission is to bring people closer together through love, fellowship, education, and unforgettable experiences. We believe every person deserves a safe and inviting space where they can express their creativity and bring their vision to life. Whether you are planning a birthday party, graduation celebration, anniversary, wedding, business meeting, group session, workshop, community gathering, or another special occasion, our center is ready to welcome you. Our 2,100-square-foot facility offers an open, flexible setting with heating and air conditioning for year-round comfort. We call it our “blank canvas” because each guest can walk into the space, imagine something beautiful, and transform it into the event of their dreams. We want you to make the space your own and create memories that will last a lifetime. S & J Serenity Center is also conveniently located near Food Lion and several neighboring stores, making it easy to pick up any last-minute supplies or forgotten items during your event. Our goal is to provide a convenient, comfortable, one-stop location that supports you from the beginning of your planning process until the final guest leaves. Tours are available on Tuesdays by appointment only. During your tour, we will introduce you to the space, listen to your ideas, and help you begin visualizing how your special event can come to life. James and Sanestra are deeply grateful to the community for the love and support shown throughout the center’s first six months.
